ABOUT

From his humble beginnings in Empangeni in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, to Worldwide attention from the likes of Gorillaz main man Damon Albarn, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, South Africa’s DJ Black Coffee and dance music legends, The Prodigy. MUZI is the next generation of South African electronic musicians primed to set the global clubs, music festivals and blogs ablaze with a distinct homegrown and infectious new sound.

MUZI spent 2015 and 2016 in Berlin, Germany, which culminated in the release of his first EP ‘Fire FX’ and later, a full-length album ‘Boom Shaka’ a bold fusion of hard-hitting electronic music and African rhythms. Boom Shaka went on to receive critical acclaim worldwide.

In
2017, Muzi returned home to work on his sophomore album ‘Afrovision’. The album was deeply inspired by his upbringing, his surroundings, African musical heritage, and the profound effect returning home had on his music and songwriting. ‘Afrovision’  went on to receive critical acclaim from online and traditional media platforms both domestically and internationally. ‘Afrovision’ saw MUZI touring extensively in the USA, U.K. and Europe in 2018.

2019 saw Muzi release his second EP ‘Stimela Segolide’ and Third studio album ‘Zeno’, named after his daughter, which dropped in October 2019, receiving critical acclaim from online and traditional media platforms both domestically and internationally.

2020 saw the release his Third EP ‘Mama’ dedicated to Muzi’s mother who had recently passed.

2021 marked the release of his Fourth LP, ‘Interblaktic’, again receiving global critical acclaim.

2022 saw Muzi complete his first 16-date headline tour in North America and rounded off the year by signing to A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Record Label and performing on the main stage at Dubai’s premiere music festival, Sole DXB.

2023 sees Muzi release his Fifth self-titled LP, ‘uMuzi’, his first project under A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Record Label. Muzi rounded of 2023 with ‘uMuzi’ Listening Sessions in Ghana, Kenya, Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg and performed with A-Trak and Friends at Miami’s Art Basel Fair during December.

MUZI's music has been extensively featured in Film Soundtracks and TV, Online and Cinema Ads for leading international brands such as Apple, Ralph Lauren, Levi’s, Deezer, McDonalds, Durex, Vans, Target, Jägermeister, Nando’s, Hyundai and Google.
